"In the first six grades of the training school the course of study prepared by the State Board of Education is followed as a general outline. The course in detain for these grades will be published next year. The following is a brienf outline of the work done in our seventh and eighth grades."
SEVENTH GRADE
Arithemetic (4 days).
Nature Study (1 day).
Classics.
English History (Fall and Winter).
Language.
Spelling.
Music and Drawing.
The aim in the study of classics in the seventh and eighth grades shall be to improve in the art of reading through a more complete interpretation of the thought, and to create ability to appreciate the literary value of the selections studied. This would require giving attention to the beauty, force, and appropriateness of words, phrases, and figures of speech, to the value of the thought, and a study of the plot."
